90 percent of what is said about[Billionaire Kidnapper] Evans are false – Abba Kyari
Assistant Commissioner of Police and head of Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, has urged members of the public to ignore most of the comments purportedly made by kidnap kingpin, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans.

He stressed that most of the information shared about the kidnapper was false

According to Kyari, the strategy used by security agents to track and nab Evans was confidential information that was known to only him and a few senior officers in the Police force, which was in contrast to what had filtered into the public domain.

He noted that Evans faced the media only twice and could not have been issuing public statements on a daily basis as conveyed by some section of the media.

Kyari said on his Facebook page: “Friends: There is a need to clear the air on some issues that are misinforming/misleading the good members of the public who are passionate about fighting crime.

“First, 90 percent of all information relating to the arrest of Evans and what Evans said that’s being shared on social media and some print media are false.

“Just like most Nigerians, I wake up every morning and hear different false stories on social media pertaining to how we arrested Evans and what he said.

“Second, the actual strategy and technology we used in arresting vampire, Evans and other big kidnappers is known to only me and very few senior officers I am working together with in the FHQ.

“Third, someone like Evans would never have been arrested based on the few technics that were officially mentioned or the ones circulating in social media which are actually technics already known to criminals.

“We’ve gone ahead of those technics. Our real strategy and technology used in picking Evans and his gang members have never been mentioned to the media or members of the public, and will never be mentioned.

“Fourth, Evans faced the media twice; first when he was paraded in the Lagos command HQ by the Force Public Relations Officer and secondly when he took IRT detectives to his detention camps in Lagos for the world to witness him taking the police to his camp that only him and his boys knows. This is so that in future he cannot deny acquiring and operating kidnapper’s detention camps in Lagos.

“Fifth, please I urge members of the public to focus more on what they see or hear from major newspapers and television stations who have names to protect and avoid the avalanche of lies and fictions that is coming out from blogs and social media every day.

“Yes we agree Evans is the biggest and most notorious criminal arrested during the social media age in Nigeria, but there should be some decree of decorum and honesty in reporting news please. Many thanks to all our friends and well-wishers, may the Almighty bless us all in our endeavors.”

billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike,
The billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, otherwise known as Evans, on Thursday filed another suit against the Inspector General of Police, and three others at a Federal High Court in Lagos.

In the new suit, Evans is claiming N300 million as general and exemplary damages against the police for “illegal detention and unconstitutional media trial”.

Joined as respondents in his new originating motion are the Nigeria Police Force, the commissioner of police Lagos State and the special anti-robbery squad, Lagos State Police Command.

Earlier on June 28, Evans had filed an ex-parte application before the same court, seeking an order directing the respondents to charge him to court.

He had also sought an order directing the respondents to release him unconditionally where no charge is preferred against him.

According to an affidavit deposed by his father, Stephen Onwuamadike, the applicant argued that he has been subjected to media trial without any court order by the respondents.

Mr. Onwuamadike further argued that the media trial and news orchestrated by the respondents have continued to generate reactions in both print and electronic media without his son being afforded fair hearing before a court of law.

The applicant, therefore, argued that his continued detention by the respondents since June 10, without a charge, or release on bail, is an infringement on his fundamental rights.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that in his new suit marked FHC/L/CS/1012/ 2017, the applicant is seeking a declaration that his continued detention since June 10 without arraignment, violates his fundamental rights as guaranteed under the 1999 constitution.

Evans is therefore seeking a declaration that his parade on June 11 before journalists in Lagos, at the Lagos police command headquarters in Ikeja, without any court order, is unconstitutional and illegal.

He is consequently seeking an order compelling the respondents to immediately arraign him before a law court, or release him from custody immediately.

The suspect is also seeking an order of perpetual injunction, restraining the respondents from further arresting, detaining, harassing, investigating or inviting him in relation to the facts of his case.

Evans and six of his co-conspirators were arrested earlier in June, after officers stormed the kidnappers’ den and engaged in a gun battle which lasted several hours.

The gang primarily kidnapped victims in Lagos State but have also kidnapped prominent Nigerians from other parts of the country.

The greatest football Striker the Nigerian senior football team has ever had.

He worked so hard to put Nigerian football on the map. He never rejected National call ups, he never discriminated against any National team player. He played every match he was invited for, and with any group of players.
Yekini single handedly qualified us for our first world cup. He brought joy to the hearts of many Nigerians and succour to us during many trying moments.

Yekini scored our first world cup goal, he won a Nations cup for us. Before then he won 3 Nations cup silver and one bronze for us. Oh, the Yekingly, the goalsfather who won highest goal scorer in the Nigerian league 3 times, in Ivory Coast, in Portugal. He scored goals for Nigeria at the Nations Cup in 84, 88, scored highest
goals in 90,92 and 94. What a player,what a man.

Yekini died frustrated in 2012 after giving the better part of his life to this Country. He was forgotten and despised.
Even though the NFF and his former teammates don't remember this great Nigerian anymore, how about us ordinary Nigerians? Have we forgotten the gangly Yekini so soon??? Have we forgotten the joy he brought to us? His fights for us? His humility and long suffering?

Ladies and Gentlemen, let's celebrate Rashidi Yekini!!! Celebrate him, celebrate him, celebrate him!!!!

Keep off roads or risk shut down – Lagos govt warns traders

The Lagos State Government, on Wednesday, warned traders in the habit of displaying their wares on the road for sale beyond the confines of the market thereby causing traffic gridlock and other environmental nuisance to desist henceforth otherwise markets where such illegal activities are perpetrated would be shut down till further notice.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who handed down the warning at a meeting with leaders of Agbado Oke-Odo Market, held at Lagos House, in Ikeja, said the activities of the traders who are in such habit had reached a level which the State Government could no longer condone, hence the need for a final warning.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello, said the leaders of markets in the State have been warned and counselled severally on the need to rein in on their market men and women to desist from disturbing others through their trading activities on the roads, but some have become adamant.

He said aside causing avoidable and needless traffic, the traders were also in the habit of dumping their refuse on the road, thereby causing environmental and health hazards.

He said: “This is just to come and deliberate on the Agbado Oke-Odo Market because of the situation there. The market has become a stumbling block particularly to those using the road. The traders have blocked the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway to the extent that even the contractors working there don’t have place to work because they have taken over the area.

“They cause a lot of traffic gridlock and people coming from Ota or from Abule Egba don’t have the road to connect other areas of the State. We have warned them consistently but we are yet to get any result. That is why we have summoned today’s meeting.

“The meeting is basically to call them to order and give them the last warning. The idea initially was to shut down the market today but the Governor decided that we should give them just one week to put things in order,” Bello said.

He said in as much as government was not interested in shutting down markets, but it would have no choice than to wield the big stick if traders continue constituting themselves as menace to other road users.

“What we are saying is that the government is not interested in shutting down any market because of the economic implication on the people who have to survive and live. As a government, we are not interested in shutting down business enterprises and all that, but if it is constituting menace and inconveniencing other people, we will have no choice than to wield the big stick, and that is why we are giving the market leaders the last warning to go and re-order their market.

“The leaders of the market must sit up and look at how to help government because we cannot say because we are trading, we should inconvenience people who go to work from Abule Egba to Lagos Island for instance and to other places and they have to spend hours on that road just because of the activities of the traders.

“Apart from that, we have a lot of filth on the road because the market people just dump their refuse on the road. We don’t want that anymore and that is why we are giving this last warning. We don’t want anybody on the road again and whatever we have to do internally as a government, we will not hesitate to do. We will send Task Force and the men of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) to the place to ensure sanity.

“This warning to Agbado Oke-Odo traders also applies to other markets in the State. Any market where their traders are blocking the road and constituting menace to others will be shut down till further notice,” Bello threatened.

Responding on behalf of others, Babaloja Araromi Agbado Oke-Odo, Alhaji Mukaila Oyinlola, said as market leaders, they have warned the traders who are in the habit of selling on the road to desist, but their warnings have fallen on deaf ears, adding that the resolve of government was a welcome development.

Also, Iyaloja Araromi Oke-Odo Market, Mrs Dupe Shonola and Babaloja General of Agbado Oke-Odo Market, Alhaji Abiodun Kosoko urged government to make examples of the perpetrators of the illegal act, but called for expansion and modernisation of the market.
