Gov. Willie Obiano Light's 💡 up Amansea boundary between Enugu and Anambra states along the Old Enugu-Onitsha Road in Awka Anambra State.

Gov Willie Obiano has switched-on the street lights along Finotel Hotel, Agu-Awka axis to Amansea boundary between Enugu and Anambra states along the Old Enugu-Onitsha Road in Awka.

The lighting system uses LED bulbs, and was being powered alternatively by gas and through the national grid.

While switching on the lights last night, Gov Obiano said the project brings to 82.6 kilometers, the milage already covered by his administration in the installation of streetlights in the state so far.
He explained that the essence of the light was to further strengthen security all over the state and to attract and encourage night life in the state to boost socio -economic activities.

According to him, provision of the street lights would be replicated in major cities of the state including Nnewi, Onitsha and other communities.

He commended good spirited Ndi Anambra like Chief Emma Bishop  Okonkwo and others who he said sponsored the on-going installation of Christmas lights/decorations round major cities of the state.

The governor said that it has been a thrust of his administration to continue to encourage Ndi Anambra across board to support and partner the state government through visionary leadership. 
He also switched on the streetlights along the Engr Arthur Eze Avenue, Awka, where he assured citizens of commencement of more lofty projects across the state once the economy improves. 

He said with the lights and other security initiatives being put in place, security of lives and property during the yuletide would be adequately guaranteed.

The Commissioner for Power and Domestic Water Development, Mr Obi Nwankwo, said the "Operation Light Up Anambra" project which commenced in November last year, was envisioned to among other things, reduce drastically, incidences of road mishaps that occur due to poor visibility and malfunctioning of vehicular lights, especially at nights.

In their remarks, the traditional ruler of Amansea, Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo and his Okpuno community counterpart, Igwe Simeon Okafor said the lofty development Gov Obiano had embarked on was an indication of his wealth of experience in governance and his commitment to the people's welfare and assured him continued solidarity of Ndi Anambra.
