400-POUND TEENAGER CUT FROM CHEERLEADING SQUAD SUES HIGH SCHOOL

Texarkana, TX | A 400-pound high school senior is threatening to sue after failing to make her school’s varsity cheer squad.

After breaking a leg last year during cheerleading practice and taking the year off to heal from her injuries, Mary-Sue Higgins put on an incredible 267 pounds during her year-long break.

“I admit that she took a few pounds,” admits her mother, that stands behind her girl’s decision to sue Texas High School in Texarkana, “but she also grew a few inches” she explained.

“I’m not asking they put her on top of the cheerleading pyramid but she got hurt whilst on the team, the least they could do is put her back on the team,” she told reporters.

“She grew 4 inches last year! I think it’s just a normal growth spurt like any other teenager at her age, nothing unhealthy about that!” her mother explained.

A lack of balance
According to the school’s cheerleading coach, Tanya Goldstein, Miss Higgins was cut out of the cheerleading team “not because of her weight” but because of her “poor balance.”
“She fell twenty-three times during tumbling try-outs for the varsity squad at Texas High School,” she explained. “Maybe she can try out next year,” she added.
She was also ranked too low for a spot on the team and, since she’s entering 12th grade this year, she’s too old for a spot on the junior squad according to school officials.
