The State Government has commenced clearing of water channels and drainages across the state to prevent flooding as the rainy season is gradually approaching.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, disclosed this at Ochanja market Onitsha while addressing the traders.
According to the SSG who equally inspected how far the contractors handling the job in the area has gone, the Obiano led administration is committed to providing a clean and disease free environment for the people of the state.
Professor Chukwulobelu called on Ndi Anambra to desist from indiscriminate dumping of waste across the state and to help government achieve its goal of a clean and hygienic environment even as he urged the citizenry to make use of the refuse bins that provided by the government which were placed at various designations in the state.
He reiterated the resolve of the state government in making sure that all the water channels and drainages in the state are not blocked to aid free flow of water throughout the rainy season to forestall any damage that might occur due to flooding and called for all hands to be on deck in order to achieve the objective.
