Anambra State To Build Medical Equipment Centre To Benefit All

The Anambra state Governor Willie Obiano has said that his administration is working had to establish a Central Medical Equipment Center for the state.
The governor disclosed this when he received the Executive Members of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Medical Students Association at the governor's Lodge, Awka.
He explained that the Center would be set up under a Public Private sector partnership initiative as envisioned by his administration, and would possess hi-tech Medical Equipment that ordinarily would have been very costly for individual hospitals to afford.
According to him, the equipment at the Centre would be made available for use to all medical doctors in the state while necessary arrangements were being made to ensure the State Health Insurance Scheme was fully explored to guarantee adequate payment for services rendered.
This he noted, would ensure that the Centre functions maximally in providing quality health service delivery to the people and enable the citizens afford its services.

Gov Obiano stated that what his administration was doing through its 3-pronged approach aimed at revolutionizing the health sector was to create a sustainable system for catering for the health needs of Ndi Anambra. He assured that the state government would sustain efforts at transforming the University's teaching hospital into a world class Medical Institution.
The state's Commissioner for Health, Dr Josephat Akabuike identified some key interventions of the administration in the Health Sector to include the development of the State Universal Health Insurance Scheme, the re-certification of hospitals to ensure that they meet acceptable standards, establishment of a Central Pharmaceutical Store for the state among others.
He noted that through the efforts of the present administration, the University was able to graduate its first and second sets of Medical Doctors, and that the students' hostel built by the government has enabled all-round academic activities in the school.
The President of the medical students association, Mr Chimezie Agbanu explained that the visit was to thank the governor for not only his strides at infrastructural upgrade in the University but also what he has done in empowering the students to always be at their best, stressing that his administration's developmental agenda has proved to be the answer to the state's socio-economic challenges.
